Every leap year in your life

What counts as a leap year?
A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4 — except century years, which must also be divisible by 400. So 2000 was a leap year, but 1900 and 2100 are not. The rule keeps our calendar aligned with Earth's actual orbit (365.2422 days).
A note on Feb 29 birthdays
If you were born on February 29 ("leaplings"), you celebrate a "real" birthday only every 4 years. Most jurisdictions treat March 1 as your legal birthday in non-leap years for things like driving age and contracts.
